Letter From My Desk #1: Slow It All the Way Down
This week at work, I noticed a pattern.
We’ve caught the same kinds of mistakes… not once, not twice, but three times after things had already gone out the door. Frustrating. Avoidable. And it made something click for me.
I told the team, “Let’s slow down. I know the timelines are tight, and I know the pressure’s there, but this is showing us something. We’re moving too fast. Let’s give ourselves the space to catch our breath and get it right.”
And then it hit me… this isn’t just about work.
It’s about me. My life. My health. My body.
I’ve spent years not slowing down.
Not pausing.
Not checking in.
Just pushing through.
And it’s cost me more than I’d like to admit.
In the past, not slowing down has shown up as heartache, burnout, and health issues—both physical and mental. It’s been me catching mistakes I could have avoided if I’d just given myself a moment.
Now, I’m practicing slowing down on purpose.
Sometimes it’s my choice.
Sometimes it’s God stepping in.
Either way, I’m paying atattention.
So if you’re like me, and you’re used to pushing through and always moving to the next thing, here’s your reminder…
Slowing down isn’t falling behind.
It’s choosing yourself in real time.
It’s trusting that clarity and pace can work together.
It’s knowing you don’t have to earn rest by breaking down first.
Thanks for sitting with me at my desk today.
